‘David crossing K road’ is a celebration of the iconic Karangahape Road in Auckland and the legendary singer David Bowie.
“I had been wanting to portray David Bowie walking down K road as the two just seem to go together. As a young girl one of my brothers was crazy about David Bowie and I’ll always remember him getting into trouble for writing the singer's name all over the pavement outside our house. I grew up hearing his music and being fascinated by how he was just a ‘star’ in every way.
Spending my early 20s living in Auckland, Karangahape road was known as iconic, with colour, history charm with an edge. The main building in this image is St Kevins Arcade was established in 1924 and has been a mecca for retail, hospitality and inner city culture since then. The K Road arcade attracts 50,000 monthly visitors.
The original Artwork was created using watercolour, Ink and acrylic on Watercolour paper.
